A pipe support is a structural component used to support above-ground piping. Types include fixed supports, sliding supports, guide supports, and rolling supports.
Pipe supports-also referred to as pipe rests or pipe mounts-are utilized wherever piping is installed. Serving as the structural support for the pipeline, they are categorized into fixed and movable types based on operational characteristics and layout requirements. Fixed supports are installed at designated anchor points where no relative displacement between the pipe and the support is permitted; these supports must possess sufficient rigidity so that any deformation resulting from applied loads is negligible compared to the deformation of the pipeline's expansion joints. Movable supports are used for intermediate support points, allowing for relative displacement between the pipe and the support without constraining the pipe's thermal expansion.
